A typical day includes helping customers that either enter the store, email us, or call, and making sure they receive the same great service regardless of how they shop with us; monitoring inventory; and training store staff to further develop their selling and operational skills so they can potentially manage a location in the future.
The freedom to make decisions for my store to maximize store performance is what attracted me to Allen Edmonds. Each store can take on the personality of the manager and store staff while still being united by a common theme of customer service.

I came to Caleres because I love shoes and I thought a Famous Footwear Sales Associate position would be a fun first job! I stayed with Caleres because they have always given me the space and time to let me be me. I graduated high school, then college, and Famous was entirely supportive of my choices. My mentor worked with me to create an engaging development plan so that I was positioned for career growth within Caleres. Now, as a District Sales Manager, I feel what I do makes a difference and I want to empower others to feel the same about their role.

What initially drew me to Caleres is the immediate sense of family. Sam and Libby, our Sam Edelman brand's founders, are extremely involved in every aspect of the business and show a deep appreciation for every single employee on both a corporate and store level. They know the name of each person in the company, which is incredible! The entire team takes such pride in their roles. I am inspired by their passion; it motivates me to give it my all day in and day out.

My typical day is spent in a store working one-on-one with the team to meet the needs of the customer, whether coaching them on the best way to create a welcoming environment for customers or working with the Store Manager on the best way to lay out the store. I love having the opportunity to coach and develop the people I work with and watching someone’s career grow and flourish. Promoting new Assistant Managers or Store Managers and handing them keys to their store is one of the most fulfilling experiences of my career. Plenty of companies say they value people and want to grow talent internally. Famous Footwear makes it happen. I started as an Assistant Manager and with hard work and support worked my way up to District Sales Manager.
